"Silent Night" (German: Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht) is without a doubt the most popular Christmas carol in the world, and was translated into 140 languages. Silent Night was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber, a school master and organist, to the lyrics ofJoseph Mohr, a priest in the small town of Oberndorf near Salzburg, Austria. Both performed the carol during the mass in the St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf of the night of December 24, 1818.
Silent Night was declared an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2011.
The manuscript on the walls of my design show the melody along with the lyrics.
