Xmas Alone

With the number of people living alone steadily increasing, this is a reminder not to forget those who have no one during the holidays. They are all around us if we bother to find them, including those in hospitals or the old in nursing homes.

A number of years ago I spent Xmas day at the hospital with my dying sister, and suddenly this young girl came in with her guitar and inspired my sister, who had a beautiful voice, to use her last bit of energy  to sit up at the edge of her bed and sing "Silent Night" for the last time, which for me is unforgettable.

Maybe you can visit someone in a hospital or nursing home or include one of the lonely in your neighborhood or in the circle of your friends in your Christmas celebration!

So stunning! Thank you Lydia, I usually try to stay away from opulence, but this time of year I let myself go (I love champagne) :-) I've always wondered what it would be like to be in a Pontalba apt. on Decatur looking out at the fireworks on the river and I think this is as close as I will get. I hope you are enjoying Arizona! <3<3<3

Thank you Fairlight, for your very kind wishes and comments. You and Begref are such a wonderful asset to this site, when considering at what a tender age the both of you are.  It's just amazing to an adult who has little  opportunity to be around young people like the two of you to find out how considerate, how mature, how engaged and how ambitious many of them are. I wish for both of you a lifetime of wonderful years to come.

Thank you Begref for all your hearts and communication! I hope you had a great Christmas day.

The reason I assumed the design was a boat was of your previous design of a boat. Somehow I got the idea that you have a definite affinity for it.

Thank you Talialodaya for your compliment and your quote of Maria Theresa.  I hadn't heard of it before, but it rings so very true.

Lydia, I'd like to wish  you a very merry Christmas!!! Even though I do not know you personally, you seem like such a nice, sweet and supportive person! I hope you have not only a great day, but a great year full of joy! You are one of my favourite designers, not only because of how nice your designs are but also how inspiring you are in what you write! Lots of love :)

Lydia, my design was intended to be a house on a cliff next to water. But good guess. Thanks for all the comments and support

This is just beautiful. So peaceful. I also enjoyed your sentiment on being alone for the holidays. "Loneliness is the worst disease"-Mother Teresa

Exquisite as always Lydia!!! I particularly love your use of the scenery and lighting, it's perfect :-) But, I do hope you're not spending Christmas alone, that would not be right for someone as nurturing and beautiful as you!!! <3<3<3
