Take this apart to see how I used a wall mounted towel rail to make a railing for a balcony http://roomstyler.com/users/55634/rooms/7580325  Make sure the extra walls drawn round the balcony do not join the house at all to make them disappear.  Here I only removed the ceiling back to level with the kitchen wall so there is a little overhang over the doorway

oh my goodness that is a tricky room to get furniture in with all the doors - well done.  It wouldn't make a huge difference but would you be able to remove the wall between the kitchen and the sitting room?

You said you weren't sure about how to do the balcony - do you mean make the railings? (look for "railings" and you will find several options or play with "towel stands/rails" to make your own railings)  Or if you don't want a floor/ceiling I willdo a remix to show you how I might do it.
