Contest - Surf-culture Bedroom

Feel free to talk about things regarding this contest in here.

Some tips: posting your room for design advice here is not appreciated by the community and will not help you get more votes. You can best ask for advice in a new discussion. If you don't see your design in the contest, check if it is public, because once it has been entered and then changed, it might have been set to private when you asked for a render.

So what design style is this? Is it like another nautical style but like modern pop culture style? Beachy?

Hi Isaac, all of us do a little googling research on our own  whenever there's a new contest.  Then you can bring some of that inspiration to post a couple questions.

Hi Isaac, you have to find it yourself.

II tried but all that came up was surfboards and pop music videos on the beach. :(

Doing an image search rather than a general search will give you a good idea of the sort of style required. Try 'surf culture home design' or 'retro surf interior design' try different combinations of words and see what jumps out at you.

try putting that in search.  You ask questions that it is clear that you have not tried on your own.  Or you would have known the answer before coming in here and asking.  This site is to have fun and play around and be creative.  It's ok to be different.  But dare to learn on your own so that you don't need everyone to hold your hand and give you step by step directions.  There are thousands of rooms, open one up to see how things are done.  The same goes with items, if you see something you like, open it up and see the item name.

Hi all, I just wanted to put my 2 cents in, for what it's worth. I was born and have grown up in California. I have visited and lived all the way up and down the West Coast. From the beautiful northern shores of Eureka and Mendocino, the dramatic San Francisco and peaceful Half Moon Bay, going south to hang-loose Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Morro Bay, then down to extravagant Santa Barbara, ritzy Malibu, and vacation-land San Diego, the surfers love it all! I haven't done a lot of research but I grew up in the 60s and had a hippy mom. Living in the Northern Bay Area and Down South in Los Angeles, we lived the surfer culture. Beachy, yes. Boho, yes. Retro, yes. And eclectic! Beachy but not necessarily nautical. Surfers hang out on the shore and on their boards. Boho and retro and eclectic because you decorated your house with hand-me-downs; a couch from your mom's house, a table from your nana, and a desk made out of something found (records were always in wooden crates!) Influenced by Mexico, the border neighbor, there are a lot of textiles, natural or lively colors, mix and match, and a collector's dream. Comfort, a place to hang with friends, music, and it's all about the waves and good times. Hope this helps :)

Teri, that's fabulous insight!  I missed the 60s by two decades almost, so it's good to hear what it was actually like.

Oh I'm so glad you all enjoyed it! Now I have to make a great design! @kitty yes, I love Big Sur! Definitely a fave! Cali's gem!  @deemuri_co Yay! Beautiful area of So Cal! I spent lots of time at the beach in So Cal. I'm in the Central Valley right now, closer to San Francisco than the South. We're hoping to move further north when my husband retires. :)

I'm a girl who prefers camping in the mountains over a beach resort.  North has always been my goal. Ok, I won't bother this thread with social stuff. Just could not resist relating a neighborly hello.
